3rd Bilbao’s Study Club session
Third module of 2017’s Study Club of International Team for Implantology was successfully held at Ortiz-Vigón Clinic – PerioCentrum Bilbao. The first one was held at the end of February and was focused on “Complex Rehabilitations on Implants”. Later on June, the second session was held and it addressed “Dental Photography”. On this occasion, the subject was “Update on Periimplantitis: non-surgical and surgical treatment” and was taught by Dr. Antonio Liñares, renowned specialist in Periodontics and Implantology and Junior Officer at European Federation of Periodontology’s Communication Board.
Periimplantitis: controversial issue
As Dr. Abtonio Liñares correctly pointed out at the presentation of “Update on Periimplantitis”, “the treatment for perimplantitis pathologies, either non-surgical or surgical, it is still a controversial topic. Lack of effectiveness in the described techniques so far makes the periimplantitis treatment unpredictable. Early diagnosis and implementation of preventive measures together with patient’s collaboration, are some of the crucial factors to prevent from a greater impact of perimplatitis related diseases”. Therefore, counting on the testimony and the experience on this subject of odontology of an outstanding professional such as Dr. Liñares, who was accompanied by our clinical director Dr. Alberto Ortiz-Vigón, allowed the many attendees to receive updated information on periimplantitis and to exchange constructive opinions between professionals of the same field.
