Denture

denture ortizvigon

A dental replacement either places artificial new teeth on top of natural teeth to reconstruct them or on top of integrated implants, as replacements for natural teeth.

Are dentures for life?

By improving the quality of our materials, we attempt to make dentures last as long as possible. Following instructions, avoiding risk factors and coming to routine check-up for maintenance will ensure the success of our treatments.

Can dentures be replaced by implants?

Dentures are fitted when there are no longer any teeth but they are often uncomfortable to wear and affect quality of life. No matter how many years you have had your dentures, it is always possible to have implants fitted to turn your removable dentures into a fixed prosthesis on top of your implants.

After having dental implants fitted (titanium roots) inside the jawbone, a dental prosthesis must be manufactured. To do this, several tests are run to check measurements and structures, as well as adjustments and aesthetics, in order to achieve successful and lasting results. We always use the best materials available for maximum accuracy of fit and a long-lasting replacement.

Immediate loading is a technique that enables patients to enjoy permanent teeth in only one day. This involves removing teeth in bad condition, fitting dental implants, taking action and fitting permanent teeth on top of newly fitted implants. With these teeth the patient can eat comfortably and will have minimal post-operative discomfort. The teeth that are fitted in less than 24 hours are temporary. Later, when appropriate, the final permanent denture will be fitted.

This consists of sculpting and shaving down neighbouring teeth in the area where teeth are missing. Thus, the denture or bridge will be well anchored and supported on the sculpted teeth in front and behind the area to be replaced. This type of fixed denture on top of teeth is comfortable and durable, but not as much as dental implants. For this treatment the patient’s own teeth must be in good condition both in front and behind the toothless area.

This type of denture rests on the gum and has retaining hooks in neighbouring teeth. We use this type of denture provisionally a great deal. It is not the best long-term solution, as it compromises the prognosis of teeth on which it rests.

In cases of discoloration or changes in the appearance of teeth, an excellent solution is the placement of porcelain veneers. This consists of minimally reducing the thickness of the tooth to then take action and fit porcelain veneers cemented on to the tooth.
